Students were able to explore the Compass and Communicator 5 software systems on either a T-series or eye gaze device. The Lab Says Goodbye to Dr. Laura Delrose!
In August of 2015, Laura Delrose, a former co-manager of the LI Lab, successfully defended her dissertation! Laura studied under Dr. Jan Norris and her dissertation, entitled "Effects of Encoding Practice on Alphabet, Phonemic Awareness, and Spelling Skills of Students with Developmental Delays", has lead her back home to the state of California. Laura pursued a job as a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist, with aspirations of one day becoming a tenure-track professor. Laura entered the PhD program at Louisiana State University right after completing her Master's degree there. As a PhD student, Laura simultaneously completed her Clinical Fellowship for ASHA certification, completed doctoral-level coursework, taught classes/labs as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, co-managed the LI Lab, and completed several pilot studies. Laura will surely be missed and she certainly left her mark on both the department and the lab. Good luck in all your endeavors, Dr. Delrose!
